I Have low self asteem and was verbally and emotionally abused as a child. I was born in the 80′s, so the asperger wasnt well known until the 90″s. The Asperger Syndrome is known as high functioning autism. I did my research and the asperger syndrom was discovered by Hans Asperger in 1944 and was accepted as a true diagnoses till the 90′s. I tried doing a little more research and found out that alot of famous people, like artist, scientist, actors, inventors, and politics have the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) like asperger syndrome. But I havent really found out if RNs, Practitioners, or Psyicians who have (ASD).

I have been having a bad day crying allot becuase I couldnt relate to my professor in my photography class, It turn out the wrong way, I could not read his social cue. (sarcasm, humor,) and it felt like my professor was makking fun of me in front of the class. Well any ways that part doesnt matter because I live my life facing society with impaired social interaction. Sometime I wish I can vanish the face of the this earth. Thats how bad its affecting me. I was told a few times to join a group. But in the back of my head I feel like I am going to join a group full of retards. I label myself a retard when Im at my lowest mood because I have this asperger disorder. I all ready know that people with ADS or autism are not retarded, especially people with the Asperger Syndrome (high functioning autism) So… my question is, can people with ADS be an RN, Practionor, or psyician?

Are there already people in that profession who have the ADS or the Asperger? My dream is to become an OBGYN but ultimately my goal is to become an RN becuase I dont think I’m good enough. I dont have problems with my intellect though… so cant there be a chance? Please help me figure this out, I’m not fishing for a compliment. Id like to accomplish something that would meet my dreams as an OBGYN.
I am a health care professional who is challenged every day, either it be work related or my personal challenges. I have learned that in especially the health care field, no matter what you do, there will always be challenges and there are always way to overcome it, or better yet, use it to your advantage.

I am sure there are M.D.s and nurses that have Asperger’s; they just don’t announce it to the world. It may just be one of those things, it’s not that they are embarrassed, it’s just not what their patients want to focus on, it’s whither or not that they can do their job and be well at it. As previous posters have said, you can do anything you put your mind to. It won’t be easy, but then again, if it was, everyone would be in the health care field! Good luck in whatever your heart decides!

Is life designed this way that only the fittest survive….?

i know this is true for the animals…but doesnt this hold true for human also..i mean the diseased people are always living in misery, the poor people who cant earn much are always sad..while the rich famous and the goodlooking have the best in life…people with autism dont have achance in this life to compete with the other people..fat people cant live their lives happily..just because they are fat. So only the people who are by socety’d standards considered fit survive happily…
Isnt it sad but true…what are your opinions on this?
I know happiness is all in the mind…but this thought just struck my mind….?
You’ve misunderstood the quote. The quote is a simplification of the idea that those best adapted to an environment will survive as a species. You misunderstood "fittest" to mean best physical shape, when the proper connotation is "having the best fit".
But this applies to a population, not an individual. So survival is defined on a generational level, not an individual level.
So being "fat" for example, is not necessarily meaningful to this idea. If the environment favors intelligence, then physical girth is less important, and you can have a population with a variety of shapes.
And there are members of the population that, if not cared for by the larger successful part of the population, would probably not survive more than one or two generation. But they are part of it, so they do survive. They survive because they "fit" the successful population.
Could I become famous…………..?

I am autistic and I can remember a view down to the last detail. I know a lot of people with autism can re-draw veiws very very detailed but I can’t draw. I am terrible at drawing, while I know exactly what to draw, I simply can’t draw. If I practised every day for like a year at simple pencil drawings until I was good enough at drawing, would I be able to become famous?
You sound truly talented so if you believe that you can do things with your images, try and draw them and send them to a professional and get some percent if you sell drawings and paintings because there are many of people who can draw, but do not have the imagination.
Good luck and i hope you do well – keep up what you believe you can do
How can I arrange for my son who has autism to meet his favourite singer?

My little boy, who will be 10yr in march, is autistic so I will never be able to take him to a concert because it is to loud and there are too many people, and I would never be able to take him to a CD signing anywhere because, yet again, it would be to loud with the screaming that goes on and there would be too many people.
My son has never before asked to meet anyone famous, the difference between famous people and normal people don’t mean a thing to him.
His exact words to me were "I would really like to meet Matt Cardle but I don’t know where he lives".
go to a singing session or when he’s on t.v or something- or get a request from the t.v the ones where they meet there fans.. over twitter probably .. I really do hope this works out for your song. record company’s have there numbers as well something like that
Answers to some Autism Questions?

Movies like My name is Khan and episodes of house portray people with autism as unable to talk and will always remain that way
but this article shows people who have it and actually seem pretty normal
http://www.parentdish.com/2010/04/23/celebrities-and-other-famous-folks-with-autism/
So is it only some people will eventually be normal or are there different types of autism?
Autism is a spectrum disorder. On one end, you have people who are nonverbal (about 15% of autistics remain permanently nonverbal) and mentally retarded. On the other end are people who are very high-functioning; these people have much milder symptoms and are capable of attending mainstream schools, living independently, forming relationships, and having a career. High-functioning autistics have at least normal and often above average intelligence. The mildest form of autism is called Asperger’s syndrome, which is what I have. It’s basically the same thing as high-functioning autism, but there is no speech delay.
Girls: Would you date a guy with Aspergers Syndrome?

For anyone who doesn’t know basically Aspergers Syndrome is a mild form of Autism, and the people who suffer from this have a hard time socializing with other people because they can’t pick up non verbal social cues. In other words, for example, if someone said ‘ i could murder my boss for what he made us do today ‘ to a person with Aspergers, that person would more than likely take you seriously and think that you would infact kill your boss. And another thing, people with Aspergers are pretty normal other than the socializing part of them. Some famous people who are taught to have Aspergers include Bill Gates and Keanu Reeves to name just a few
yes it it would be quite hypocritical of me not to
considering im a girl with asperger’s syndrome
Agenesis of the corpus callosum and Aspergers/Autism?

I have this rare Neurological Condition called Agenisis of the Corpus Callosum. Lately I have been reading up on Aspergers Syndrome and seeing that I have alot of similarities that I share with alot of Aspies. I have a pretty exceptional photographic memory, and can regurgitate alot of facts I have read. I also learned that Kim Peek one of the most famous people with ACC was the inspiration for “Rain Man” a movie about Autism and not ACC.

Some additional details are that I am a 32 year old male. Although I have ACC I look physically normal and do not show any physical difficulties except a few strained facial expressions from time to time. I have dated and had relationships in the past but have had trouble maintaining steady ones. I have a hard time reading body language and such. When I was young I was also very afraid of loud noises and also I did alot of hand flapping when I got excited or when I was engaged in play.

You could be Aspie. My cousin is, and he is very knowledgeable about very specific things, and has considerable difficulty in social situations. You do have symptoms/traits that would be considered Aspie. However, I think you might be reading into it a little too closely:

You have a neurological condition. Many such conditions mimic Autism and the spectral conditions, but that’s not enough. It could be that these traits would be considered off-shoots of your condition and not true Asperger’s. Anyway, you’re probably more read up on this than any of the people here…
…I don’t have neurological condition, but I was once thought to be Aspie because of my lack of eye contact, my marked social deficit on a bs IQ test I took, and my speech patterns. While I was ultimately considered bipolar, it was true that anxiety was causing these issues…. still, I think your question is more “could I be?” rather than “can I cure?” Duh, but you should talk to your neurologist. It’s a great time to be on the spectrum, with all the text communication available…

I know that people with Asperger’s Syndrome are capable of phenomenal skills that are diverse and varied. Like anyone else, with motivation and interest you should be given the opportunity to follow your dream. I believe there is always a chance for you to become an RN or OBGYN. If there are not many individuals in your situation in the medical field, then you will just have to be a trendsetter and accomplish your dream.

Autism Trivia Questions?
January 16, 2011 by admin
Filed under Famous People with Autism
For National Autism Awareness month (April) I am going to be asking a trivia question everyday on the school morning announcements. Here is what I have so far. Any suggestions? Are some questions too easy or too hard? What can I add?
1.What is Autism?
A)A mental disorder
B)A physical disability
C)Developmental disability
2.What are the characteristics of Autism?
3.What causes Autism?
A)Neglectful parents
B)Vaccines
C)Heredity
D)No one knows for sure
4.How many people in the world have Autism?
A)1 in a thousand
B)1 in 150
C)1 in 3
5.Which one of these famous people has Autism?
A)Albert Einstein
B)Steven Spielberg
C)Bill Gates
6.What is the difference between Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome?
7.Which of the following is a myth about Autism?
A)Everyone who has Autism is a genius with amazing talent
B)Autism costs America 35 billion dollars per year
8.Which one of these famous people has Autism? A) Michael Jackson B) Dan Akroyd C) Mozart
9.Which of the following is a myth about Autism?
A)A child is diagnosed with Autism every 20 minutes
B)Autistic people can never lead a normal life
10.Which of the following is a myth about Autism? A) More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined B) Autism prevents a person from building social relationships
The questions about famous people with Autism are kind of tricky. Although Mozart and Einstein exhibited the traits of AS, it cannot be proven for certain that they actually had it. The answer is Spielberg and Dan Akroyd, because they have publicly admitted that they have AS.
I’m thinking about changing "Michael Jackson" to Bob Dylan or Woody Allan, because the rumors of those celebrities having AS are more commonly believed.
The reason why I chose to list famous people who are rumored to be Autistic is because I wanted to attempt to break stereotypes. It is assumed that intelligent people from Mozart to Bill Gates are successful because they are rumored to have Autism. This isn’t true, because Autism doesn’t automatically make a person a genius with talent. All Autistic people are equal to everyone else.
If I were you I would stick to facts about autism and not rumors. There are plenty of diagnosed, wonderful people. Spielberg and Akroyd diagnosing themselves is about as valid as you diagnosing yourself. Please, if you are going to represent these people, do it with respect and do not spread rumors. It might make great theater, but it is too serious a topic to treat lightly.
