Autism Improvement Using Nt

Only in the past few years have some Neurofeedback (NFB) clinicians worked with autistic children. Success has been rare. Few parents can afford the horrible cost, and few clinicians are willing to take on an autistic child, because of the difficulties involved.

1. How do you attach sensors to an autistic child? Even using a helmet?

2. If you get a connection, how do you motivate such a child? (A key to success).

3. The cost can bankrupt any family except the very wealthy.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

Enter Neuroliminal Training (NT). All three of the above problems above are solved with its usage. There is no sensor attachment needed, nor any helmet, nor is motivation important. Since NT works by using a subliminal messaging technique that works during sleep, or as a background to play or study, It can be done at home using a repeating CD, and at an affordable cost to even a low income family. NT improves autism symptoms gradually over time in the same way as NFB.

Neuroliminal Training (NT) does for autistics exactly the same three things that NFB training does – namely raise the SMR brain wave, lower the Theta brainwave, and increase the brain blood flow. (The latest NFB therapy includes HEG biofeedback which does this by feedback techniques). Hyperbaric therapy has had some known success with increasing oxygen as well, although it’s relatively expensive.

With volunteer tests and studies, it has been well proven that success rates are very similar for both NFB and NT. The only real difference is cost. For an average ADHD child to be “cured” (cure being defined in current NFB circles as “sitting still in class, paying attention to study, getting good grades, and in most cases, jumping in IQ scores”) costs $4000. For NT, the total cost is $197. (An autistic child requires many more sessions than an ADD/ADHD child).

Although I believe that there is a “continuum” between the simplest ADD child that cannot seem to concentrate on studying and a true non-communicative autistic child, there is one major difference. A person on the autism portion of that continuum may have had actual brain damage, whereas, the ADD/ADHD child has probably had little or none. Thus, a “cure” for ADD/ADHD is possible, but for not for autism.

To improve autism symptoms, simple “baby steps” toward “normal behavior” are what is seen using either NFB or NT. The good news is that continued usage continues improvement. This is a long slow process, and there are several alternate therapies which may be used at the same time. These are described in the NT literature. These include diets, the use of enzymes, probiotics, free allergy tests etc.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

This “brain damage” that makes autism such a problem may be caused by various traumatic episodes such as an overload of mercury or other mineral toxicity, a birth or pregnancy injury, continual malnutrition (or drug addiction) by the mother during pregnancy, etc.

Of course, this autism spectrum is large and variable with each individual. Not to mention, the misdiagnosed cases. A high functioning autistic child might easily be thought to be in the ADD/ADHD range. Remember that all doctors have to make a diagnosis that will allow them to be paid from insurance carriers, and this makes the whole diagnostic process a mockery.

The “accepted” average success rate of Neurofeedback (NFB) (aka EEG BF) for ADD/ADHD is between 85-90%. I suspect that a large part of these 10-15% “failures” are due to misdiagnosis of ADD/ADHD, where there has been brain damage, and the diagnosis should have been autism.

Another portion of these failures has to be due to the failure of the clinicians to be “good motivators of their patients. Motivation is a key to success of NFB.

Almost 40 years ago, it was found that by raising one small brain wave adjacent to the Alpha brain wave (around 13-14 Hz) – since named the SMR brain wave), some almost miraculous things happened. We do not “know” what causes these good changes, but the theory I put forth in 2000 is that “raising the SMR brain wave somehow changes the affect of allergens on the brain”. (If you look at the mental problems that are caused by allergens, and compare that list to the NFB cures over the past 30 + years, you can easily see the reason why I came up with that theory..)

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

In orthomolecular circles, it is well known that allergens, usually unsuspected, are the basic cause of stress causing all mental “disease”. There is also a lot of anecdotal evidence that raising the SMR brain wave either “cures” some allergies, or lessens the effect on the patient.

NASA scientists found that lowering the Theta brain wave increases concentration (attention), and they spend hours “brainwashing” jet pilots and astronauts to lower their Theta brain wave. This has become a “standard therapy” for NFB as a result.

However, what most NFB clinicians don’t know is that by lowering Theta, we also lower “creativity”, or “artistic ability”. Of course, in all “attention” cases, including autism, this is not as important as social happiness of the child involved. In the case of the astronauts, concentration on the myriad dials and readouts and controls is critical to their jobs, and artistic ability is easily sacrificed.

In a recent conference, I heard about an autistic girl that was a real savant in mathematics and music. They used an experimental stem cell transplant on her, and it improved her autism symptoms dramatically, but it also cut her savant ability in half.

The Autism CD package does lower Theta, while the SMR plus does not. SMR Plus is the recommended one for all forms of depression, including PTSD, insomnia, epilepsy, Fibromyalgia, etc.

NFB works by a sort of beneficial brainwashing using the conscious mind getting feedback on what the SMR brain wave is doing, and trying by conscious concentration to raise this wave. (Or lower the Theta brain wave at the same time with attention issues).

NT also works by a beneficial brainwashing that raises the SMR brain wave, but NT uses subliminal messaging instead of feedback using the conscious mind.. It also lowers the Theta brain wave if there are “attention issues” (ADD/ADHD/autism). For other brain problems, such as insomnia, depression, epilepsy, PTSD, anxiety, etc there is no useful purpose served in lowering Theta, so it is not done. (This is the SMR Plus CD package.)

Do you believe in evolution?

As an anthropology minor I am a firm believer in evolution. It is a documented fact that human and chimp DNA are 98 percent alike. I have a mild form of autism known as Asperger’s Syndrome. Though society likes putting labels on my kind, I remain optimistic. They make me feel like I’m disadvantaged, but I think of it as evolution. Just so you know it was Herbert Spencer who coined the term “survival of the fittest” and not Charles Darwin.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

Darwin coined the term natural selection. I believe through natural selection we have acquired Asperger’s which has enhanced our versatility, ingenuity, and creativity. If we were spawned from two people, we would all be inbred. If evolution wasn’t real, I’m positive everyone would be lactose intolerant, and we’d all have Type O blood. So what I’m asking is how many of you believe in evolution?

Point taken, Constellation. However, I consider it an enhancement. I don’t go around trying to get people to feel sorry for me because I have Asperger’s. Further, I don’t feel any more disadvantaged than anybody else. There are things we are capable of that most neurotypicals are not. People underestimate our talents. Just because we don’t have the sharpest social skills, that doesn’t mean we don’t have other attributes. Our society just likes to stigmatize those of us who are not a part of the conventional norm.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

I believe in evolution as well, rather than a rib and two loverbirds 6,000 years ago.

Interesting point on Aspergers. What is interesting is that Aspergers is less than 1% of the population and through poor social skills, is likely to stay that way because many Aspies have trouble with relationships.

However, the lack of those spontaneous and extrovert social skills can be a genetic advantage to Aspergers, in my opinion because it helps us (yes I believe I am an Aspie) think more clearly and if you notice, many Aspies have a hard time lying and are very factual, concrete thinkers.

Instead of evolving to where Aspergers becomes the dominant form of neuro mindset, more likely Aspergers will remain the elite one percenters, that can still have a tremendous impact on the course of human society. Take a look at Thomas Edison, Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein, if you believe those gentlemen had Aspergers, as it has been said, you will understand what I mean.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

People with Aspergers tend to gravitate towards the musical arts, engineering and most endeavors of science. With an incredible ability for abstract conceptualization, it is like Aspies have the ability to lay the railroad tracks for the direction in which society may flow, even while remaining less than 1%.

Usually I don’t promote Aspergers like this and believe if I did this more often it would only cause a backlash, however, I thought your question was the perfect launching pad to make these points.

What do you think of my article on Asperger’s Syndrome?

Asperger’s Syndrome, Part 6
by Michael McCroskery

Child Development and Asperger’s Syndrome
Cognitive and social skills, which shape personality and character, develop throughout life. However, genetic or environmental obstacles can obstruct development, especially early in life. One such obstacle is Asperger’s Syndrome.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

Asperger’s Syndrome (or AS) is a congenital neurobiological condition that affects 0.25% of the population. AS is linked to autism spectrum disorder, and includes autistic-like behavior and marked deficiencies in social and communication skills. AS individuals are of average to above average intelligence, some with unusual gifts and creativity. As a diagnosis, it has been known in Europe since the 1940′s, but has only been included in our medical diagnostic manuals since 1994. Thus many adults and children remain undiagnosed. Consequently AS is relatively unknown and not clearly understood, even among professionals.

AS is indeed a puzzle, and researchers are working to identify the pieces and form them into a meaningful picture. My experiences as an adult recently diagnosed with Asperger’s, together with my studies in child development, suggest that individuals with AS are like young children–stuck in time, so to speak, never able to advance beyond early stages in social, cognitive and language development.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

For example, most AS difficulties center around social competencies. A salient characteristic of young children is egocentrism–the inability to recognize that other people think and feel differently than oneself. Persons with Asperger’s Syndrome remain in this egocentric state, unable to interpret the thoughts and emotions of others, or to experience empathy. Another name given to this condition is “mind blindness”–the incapacity to visualize the mind states of others. Thus it is hard for AS individuals to develop normal friendships, as either children or adults. Without empathy, they become emotionally stunted. A related problem is the inability to carry out social referencing through understanding nonverbal cues, such as facial expressions or body language. Such cues are “invisible” to those with AS.

A piece of the AS puzzle related to cognitive skills is attentiveness. “Attention span” is the number of mental elements that one can remember at any given time. During preschool years children exhibit “centration,” focusing on one piece of information at a time, and briefly at that. The ability to process several elements simultaneously, or to remain focused on a task, comes with greater cognitive sophistication. Unfortunately, the tendency towards centration seems to remain with the AS individual into adulthood. One diagnosis commonly given prior to accurate diagnosis with Asperger’s Syndrome is “attention deficit disorder.”

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

A third part of the Asperger’s puzzle relates to language. An early stage of language development includes “telegraphic speech”– abbreviated speech in which words not essential to the meaning of a sentence are omitted. People with AS seem not to develop beyond this stage, further stunting their communication skills. The easy flow of spontaneous social conversation is usually beyond their capacities. They must learn social “scripts” through special training and repetition. Even then, AS speech tends to be stilted and formal. Also, children in early stages of language development are quite literal. Figurative use of language, symbolic representation, nuances and double meanings are a later development. Once again, the individual with Asperger’s remains in a childhood realm–that of literalism. Linguistic sophistications such as jokes, puns and idioms are hard for AS individuals to grasp. Even the most basic of social interactions become a confusing and humiliating experience.

Understandably, AS individuals encounter enormous difficulties during the transition into adolescence, and later into adult life, since they have not completed the requisite developmental tasks or moved beyond early stages in language, cognitive and social skills. They frequently remain emotionally dependent upon parents or family members, and suffer from separation anxiety and insecurity when trying to live on their own. Friendships with peers, romantic relationships, marriage and parenting, and entry into the work world are usually beyond their capacity. They remain, in many debilitating ways, stuck in time, trapped in the AS puzzle. They are, in essence, childlike beings attempting to live in an adult world, but without the support and understanding that children are afforded.

Deborah, isn’t it curious how boys are 7 times more likely to get autism dx and girls are more likely to get AS dx than boys I think.
think of AS as a mental condition rather than a disease.

Some of it is interesting and it explains some things that are usually mentioned, but not explained much in other articles. The article only covers a small part of AS though. Since you went into such detail about this part of AS, I think you should at least mention that there is much more to AS than this, because people who don’t know much about it could think this is it and that there are no other symptoms or problems in AS.

I’m also not sure about the comparison with children. Aspies do have some childlike traits, but you make it sound like we need to be treated like children, which is definitely not what we need. Adult aspies should be treated as adults, but with acceptance and support when needed. I think the article needs to be a bit more clear on this.

Other than that, well done.

Would my creativity scare people away?

I am not trying to sound full of myself here by any means. Regarding the fact I am diagnosed with Aspergers which is a high functioning form of Autism. I am still wanting to meet more people with Aspergers as well because I still curious to see if people also share such creativity.

Although I love to meet anybody nice, I don’t hate anybody it’s just not me. I’m used to mean people, usually on the internet or people through the past who are snobby. I don’t pay attention to it anymore because it’s not worth it. I only listen to the positive people!

We all mess up and we learn from our mistakes!

But here is what I would like to know. If anybody else out there would find my creativity really big.

I have these companions known as Niggies. Now people it’s not racist and I want to make this clear, Niggi is nothing related to the N word.

Visit my website www.xniggilandx.piczo.com

I update it all the time and it has tons of information about my Niggies. Don’t forget to visit the Niggi depictions page, I uploaded some of my drawings of Niggies. The drawings will give you somewhat of a better depiction in your mind.

Anyway, the Niggies are real as can be to me. But I will use them for a cartoon someday I am hoping to make!

I already went out and bought a remote control tank, and a whole bunch of toy soldiers. I went outside of my house and created a Niggi War Movie comedy. The grass actually made it seem like a real jungle and war zone :D

Most people my age wouldn’t think of going out and buying toys and making movies with them. No I am not childish, I am just having fun!!

If that makes me childish, than let me be childish. But I am making movies and it’s fun!!!

I also went out to the dollar store and bought a wrestler guy who looks like A Rockstar and he will be my Niggi Rockstar. I also bought 3 little masks I can paint. They can be Niggi Masks!

I also bought a firefighter set at Wal Mart that came with 2 firefighters and a set of firetrucks and they can be the Niggi Firefighters.

This is all for my movies. I am having a lot of fun with this! You all might think I am crazy.

I also drew some Niggies and make puppets, I glued them on some sticks. :D

I love life!!!!!!!!

I never run out of ideas!!! I just keep going!

I guess they made you believe that what YOU experience in YOUR life isn’t real.. merely because whoever said that has never experienced it. You are simply seeing and interacting with things that most others simply cannot. Most people only interact with this world through the five senses and nothing else. You are interacting and feeling a bit beyond the regular five senses reality.

You are special.. be proud.. play the game.. and use your gift to learn and grow. You are very brave.. I can tell simply by reading your profile write-up.

Best of wishes… and thank you for the encouragement ;)

You’ve created your own world to live in (I suspect because you don’t care for this one) but this isn’t a sign of creativity; its escape. Your world isn’t real and can be lived in only by you. (I would also suggest a different name for your subjects.)

The Autistic Brain

September 9, 2010 by admin

It is believed that many researchers found the pathology of autism. The creativity and savant abilities make autistic people extraordinary so in this case the doctors are working on a treatment which can be able to lessen autistic symptoms of hypersensitivity without compromising them.

The neocortex is the outer part of the brain which contains groups of cells named mini columns which are the smallest unit of cells capable of processing information. The neurons are large cells founded in mini columns which allow communication within an individual mini column and among different parts of the brain.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

At the people with autism mini columns are smaller and more numerous than normal. The neurons are reduced in size within each mini column which can be good or bad. There are things that can be processed in one area of the brain like math and visual discrimination at which people with autism are very good, but they can be very bad at anything that requires coordination among various parts of the brain like social skills, language and face discrimination.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

The stimuli which are no longer contained within specific mini columns can go to next mini columns causing an amplifier effect which is the one side effect of extra mini columns with extra-small cells. Thus can be explained the hypersensitivity of some autistic patients. It is believed that lessening sensory overload and the likelihood of seizures can be done by increasing the “insulation” surrounding mini columns.

Go Here To Learn More About Autism

The only cells that can stand at 90 degrees to surface of the cortex are the mini column cells. The insolation around the mini columns can be reinforced transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) which would have a minimal side effect. It is important this treatment because the side effect of changing the personality or thought processes of the person being treated would not exist. Mental illnesses like schizophrenia and depression are treated using TMS. For treating hallucinatory voices clinical trials use the NIH to test the usefulness of TMS.

Social skills, language and face discrimination are definitory in cases of autism.
